Welcome Amelia- A Birth Story
It’s been pretty evident to me that more people read my blog and comment on my posts when I’m talking about Logan, so get excited people, this entire post is all about him! And what wife doesn’t like doting on her husband?
On September 1st, Logan was promoted to Gunnery Sergeant. Just a few short weeks later, he found out he had been selected for Warrant Officer! To say it was a crazy exciting month would be an understatement. Only 285 Marines were selected this year. In his MOS (job field), 68 applied, but only 14 were selected. Different people are on the board each year, so each year the criteria for what they’re looking for changes. Someone might be qualified for the role, but there may not be a need in his specific MOS. It’s a frustrating dice to roll. This was Logan’s third time applying for it (spaced out several years due to his two ACL tears) and he was quite excited when I told him that he had been selected. Yes, I actually found out before him, thanks to my awesome neighbors!
So on February 6th, just one week after starting Warrant Officer Basic Course (WOBC), he was appointed to Warrant Officer. The official ten minute ceremony was held indoors where the entire class took the oath and then everyone was free to pin their loved ones wherever they chose.
Since he was officially a Warrant Officer, I got to pin his new rank on him outside the auditorium (insert childish happy dance).
Later that afternoon, he held his official pinning ceremony at the chapel beside the Marine Corps Museum. The only snafu was the person he originally had asked to appoint him went to the wrong location, so he had to find a quick stand in (which explains the phone). All went well though.
Easton and I were invited up to pin his new rank on him.
A big thanks to everyone that helped him get where he is today!
I can’t say enough how proud we are of him! Logan has never taken the easy road in his Marine Corps career. He has gone on multiple deployments, excelled on a B-Billet, and put in a lot of hard work and time. And while he would love to be at home with us all the time, he knows taking the hard road is what will take care of our family in the future.
Logan’s family drove up from Tennessee and surprised him! I’m so very happy they were able to come and I know it meant the world to Logan. Pictured here (from left to right) are his brother, mom, niece, sister, and brother-in-law.

We have truly been blessed with meeting some awesome USMC friends along our journey. Kristen and Jared (on the left) are our neighbors here in Quantico. Kristen and I spend almost everyday together and I’m not really sure what I would do without her! We became friends with Angel and Justin (on the right) during recruiting duty and were also stationed together in California. They drove up from North Carolina, just for Logan. Thank you all for coming!
The day after the ceremony, it was right back to the grind. Logan is currently enduring four months of grueling infantry training here in Quantico. From sleeping out in the snow, to 15 mile hikes, he comes home on the weekends exhausted and in much need of a pedicure. We are thankful we get to see him though, even if it is just on the weekends, and the finish line is in sight! Please keep him in your prayers.
I’m currently in the process of writing a post on preparing for WOBC, so you’ll definitely have to check back to read it. For now, we are enjoying the calm before moving to our next duty station in just a few short months!
