Welcome Amelia- A Birth Story
In the three years that my husband has been on recruiting duty, we have taken one official vacation. And during that vacation he spent most of the time on his phone checking in with his recruiting station. Being the boss has its perks, but along with those perks comes added stress. Needless to say we were long overdue for a vacation. So, off we went to my home state of Florida! Easton got to enjoy his first plane ride!
We headed down to the small island of St. George, population around 3,300. No cars needed, so we rented a golf cart for the week to get around town in. So much fun! There are no big hotels or chain restaurants, just local food and homes to rent by the week. The house that we rented was a short walk to the beach and also had a small private pool. Our son, Easton, just recently turned 7 months old, and we were excited to introduce him to the water for the first time.
It was so much fun seeing him laugh and play in the pool for the first time (I was a swimmer growing up so the kid really doesn’t have a choice!). The beach on the other hand was a little intimidating. He loved to wiggle his toes in the sand and be lulled to sleep by the sound of the crashing waves, but had no interest in getting wet. Does anyone really like saltwater? Oh well, there will be plenty of time for the beach later on!
One night we went out to eat at Eddy Teach’s. It was a local bar that had an oyster happy hour and live music. Easton got his first bar experience and was such a hit. He danced and laughed and thoroughly enjoyed the music!
We did a short day trip over to Apalachicola and toured some local shops after eating lunch at Up the Creek Raw Bar.
My sister is a wedding photographer, so she couldn’t resist snapping a few pics of Easton on the beach. Check out her website for many other posts about Easton and the weddings that she and her husband photograph.
A lot of sun and relaxation was had on this vacation! I can also happily say that my skin went from a ghostly white to a pale white. 🙂 Hooray! I love getting to vacation with my family and introduce Easton to new things and places. Looking forward to our next beach vacation together!

Had a great time with everyone! We need to make this a yearly occurrence.
