I am so excited to finally share Amelia’s nursery with you! I had so much fun decorating her room. I immediately started thinking about how I was going to decorate it as soon as we found out we were having a girl. I had a blast decorating Easton’s nursery, but I was ready to switch gears and decorate a girl nursery for a sweet little one! I knew I wanted to paint the walls purple and be super feminine, but that was it. Oh, and flamingoes, lots of flamingoes! Piece by piece, her room came together and I couldn’t be more excited at how it turned out. Special thanks to my husband for all his hard work!

The first piece of furniture we bought for her nursery was the rocker. My original plan was to use the rocking chair from Easton’s nursery, but since we still use it to read to him, I decided to purchase another one. Not wanting to spend an arm and a leg on a new chair, I began looking on Craigslist for one. After several weeks of searching, I came across this purple chair for $65! The owner was an older gentleman (yay for vintage finds!) and he said he would deliver the chair himself. Thinking that the chair would probably need to be recovered, my mom and I (during one of her visits) set out to Joann’s to find some fabric to recover it with. The second I saw the brightly colored floral fabric, I knew it was the one! However, even with the fabric being on sale, it was going to cost around $500 to have the chair recovered professionally. I might as well have bought a new chair! Still undecided, I headed home to see Logan in the garage sitting in the chair we had bought off Craigslist. He said the man told him it may have been sat in twice and had spent it’s life sitting in a room! He just wanted to give it a new home since it was never used and taking up space. So, needless to say, the chair was in immaculate condition. We quickly decided that it did not need to be recovered and that we would use the fabric we found at Joann’s to make custom curtains! Ta-da!

Next, it was on to the changing table. In our old California home, I purchased a French Provincial dresser off Craigslist for $100 to use as a vanity, secretly knowing that if we ever had a girl, I would re-finish it and use it as her changing table. So it’s a good thing we moved and I didn’t need it as a vanity anymore! I was planning on painting it a color, but after we painted the walls in the nursery purple, and purchased the bright curtains, I knew it needed to be white. It wasn’t until I came across a white and gold dresser on Pinterest that gold quickly became my next accent color. Logan painted the dresser and I must brag and say it’s better than any piece of furniture we could have bought (not that there was any doubt!). He despises painting, but I keep telling him furniture making and painting need to be his side job!

I made a simple cloud mobile out of felt and crystals. It was so easy to make and adds a nice touch of sweetness to that corner of the room.

My mom saved several outfits that were mine as a child and they are in pristine condition! I really enjoy getting to display them in her room.

To add some more gold accents to her room, I painted a curtain rod we had laying around, as well as the shelving brackets.

I curbed my flamingo obsession and decided on only using two in her room – the flamingo painting and this stuffed animal. I saw this stuffed animal years ago when at Toys-R-Us with Easton and knew that if I ever had a little girl, it would find a home in her room! The block with her name on it was a gift from my aunt and uncle. Every side of the block is engraved with something different. One side has her birth date and another has her birth stats on it – such an awesome gift idea for someone.

The ‘A’ initial was another idea I found on Pinterest. It was being sold on Etsy for $120! Granted, it was made with Swarovski crystals, but I was not about to shell out that much money. So, being the diy-er that I am, I decided to make it myself. I used crystals and pearls I bought at Michael’s and glued each… one… on… individually. This may have taken several hours, but who’s counting…

We used the same crib we had in Easton’s nursery, but I opted for no bumper pads or skirt due to safety reasons and not being able to find exactly what I wanted. I think this fuchsia polka dotted crib sheet matched perfectly in her room. I purchased the crib knowing it would work for both a boy and girl nursery.

I had a love of pigs when I was a child and kept a few of them to be able to give to my daughter when I had one. The other two stuffed animals were gifts. Amelia’s initial pillow was made out of leftover fabric from the curtains.

All the other special touches were added in after several trips to Home Goods, items that were mine as a child, or gifts. Her room is so much fun to sit in and relax. I love how the purple, pinks, whites, and golds all came together to create such a feminine room for my little girl. Now we need to just stay put in this house for at least another year! Having to move and leave a beautiful room like this is definitely a down side of life in the military. But on the bright side, I get to decorate all over again!
