Sleeping patterns: Amelia’s new bedtime is 1730 and she starts the day around 0700. She wakes up twice a night, usually around 2300 and 0300 to eat, but goes right back to bed. I am slowly starting to work on dropping at least one of these nightly feedings. We have developed somewhat consistent nap times around 0900, 1200, and 1430.
Feeding schedule: Amelia nurses every 3-4 hours during the day and we have now begun introducing her to solid food! Her first food was banana, which she gave two thumbs up. I am starting her off slowly, but she acts ravenous when I feed her by grabbing the spoon from my hand and shoving it in her mouth.
Sounds and motions she makes: Amelia loves to babble and talk to us. She is developing quite the personality! She recognizes our faces so well now and lights up with the biggest smile while kicking her legs when she sees us. She enjoys grabbing everything she can with her hands and bringing it to her mouth to chew on. Lately it’s been my hair or nose that she will grab and reel in while squealing with delight!
Likes and dislikes: Amelia has enjoyed sweet potatoes this month along with trying out her new sippy cup. She can also find the tag on just about any item to chew on. Her thumb is still her favorite item of choice right now though. She loves to sit on her play mat with her toys. Some of her favorite toys lately have been Sophie the giraffe, a mirror, and a stack of rings. She absolutely loves to be held and interacted with and dislikes when she is left alone. She’s also not big on tummy time or her jumperoo. She also dislikes long naps for fear of missing out on what’s going on without her. She does enjoy sitting in her vibrating chair while mommy works on the computer though and loves nature walks outdoors while being carried close in a sling.
By the end of the month, she is learning to: Amelia is enjoying solid food now and her first tooth has made it’s appearance! Her back right molar poked through a week and a half after turning 5 months old. No wonder she has been teething so much! So far that’s the only one. She is learning how to use a sippy cup and has started taking more consistent naps. She is getting stronger at sitting up on her own and usually only falls over if she is stretching to reach something. She loves to smile and I really think she is starting to enjoy all of my picture taking! I love seeing her personality grow and how excited she gets when she sees a familiar face.
