Sleeping patterns: Thanks to daylight savings time, we were able to push Amelia’s bedtime back to 1900. She goes down without any issues and sleeps until at least 0700. Nap time is around 1200 and she will usually sleep for 3 hours.
Feeding schedule: Amelia is still a great little eater, so much so that we had to put a lock on the refrigerator door! She would snack all day if we’d let her. She still likes all of the same foods and will usually try anything we offer her. New foods she likes are cherry tomatoes, salads, all sweets, and crunching on ice chips. Breakfast is first thing in the morning, followed by lunch at 1100 and dinner by 1800. She is still famous for making a “Mmmm” noise while chowing down and loves crawling across the table or hopping up into our laps to get a taste of what we’re eating.
Sounds and motions she makes: Amelia understands just about everything we say to her now. She has added quite a few words to her vocabulary too, such as: hello, KiKi, Dada, shoes, book, mine, water, snack, no or nuh uh, bite, poo poo, and socks. She loves to talk and gets very frustrated when she can’t explain to us what she wants. It seems like every day she is getting smarter and turning into a little person now. She is quite fast on her feet and I just love watching her fast “waddle” everywhere she goes.
Likes and dislikes: Amelia loves wearing shoes (she will find them and bring them to us to put on, saying “shoes” the entire time), taking off her socks, taking off her shoes in the car, eating, reading books, being carried, sliding down the stairs on her belly, riding her scooter, being a daredevil on the playground, playing with and walking Semper, swinging in the big girl swing at the park, giving kisses, being put in timeout (this was short lived after the novelty wore off), wearing mommy’s lipstick, getting into things (she is quite mischievous), picking fuzz off her blankie (at least she’s not eating it anymore), wearing a hat backwards, waking Easton up after her nap, snuggling before bed on the couch, throwing things out of her crib, dancing to music, and trying to dress herself. Her dislikes include wearing a diaper (potty training is near!), being left behind (she will pitch a fit if I walk down the stairs without her), when brother gets all the attention or doesn’t share his toys, being put in timeout, when someone isn’t sharing their food with her, and when I won’t carry her. When I give in and pick her up, a huge smile creeps up on her face. She sure does have me wrapped around her little finger! She will pitch quite a fit if she doesn’t get what she wants – she is definitely going to be our strong willed child.
By the end of the month, she is learning to: Amelia is learning how to communicate better with us by telling us what she wants – her vocabulary grows everyday. She is starting to try and dress herself (although her head usually gets stuck in her shirt and both legs end up in the same hole), ride a scooter (she saw Easton doing it and has really impressed us by how quickly she has picked it up), drink out of a regular cup, go up and down the stairs faster, and open doors. Besides riding her scooter, she loves climbing up things at the playground and jumping off. She has no fear! She is starting to interact and play with Easton more and enjoys playing with all of his boy toys (I keep reminding myself that we need to buy some more girl toys). For the first time, she seemed interested in a TV show that Easton was watching. Usually she could care less about the TV, but she sat and watched at least five minutes of it. I’m glad we avoided it for this long! She is a strong willed little girl, but she is just the sweetest and always keeps us laughing. When we have to punish her, she sticks her lip out and it’s becoming very hard not to laugh. She loves apologizing though with a kiss and giant hug before going on her way.
