When Amelia’s daycare provider brought home a cute little piggy, my brain immediately knew that I was going to be borrowing him for a photo shoot! It just so happened that I knew someone who owned a farm here in San Diego! Remember our German Shepherd, Trigger? This is his neighbor’s farm! So off we went late one afternoon to visit the farm, pig in tow!

As are most of my photo shoot ideas, this shoot did not go as planned! Thank goodness my sister happened to be in town and was able to help, and Elizabeth, the owner of the farm, was used to pigs and was able to help catch, I mean, corral him. So my “day on the farm” was more like an hour on the farm, but who am I to mess up a good title?

I always loved pigs as a child. For those who know me well, I have a favorite stuffed animal that is a pig and I even took it as far as wanting to be a pig farmer when I grew up! I can confidently say now that I’m glad that I didn’t go into that profession – have you ever heard a pig squeal?? It will give you a heart attack three towns away. Nonetheless, we carried on and took what we could get. I can tell you with all honesty that there was definitely no posing of the pig or staged shots here!

Both kids really enjoyed getting to spend some time on the farm seeing all the different animals up close. Amelia even got to hold a chicken! Who knew my favorite picture of the pig photo shoot would be with a chicken?

This was piglets first time ever being on a farm so it was interesting to see how he reacted. He wasn’t so sure about the goats and I kept wondering if he was having a bit of FOMO, or if he was ready to go back to his nice indoor home!

This is the look you make when you hear a pig squeal and a goat keeps giving you unwanted attention.????

Probably the kids’ favorite part of our trip was getting to feed the donkeys and horses. They were all very sweet and came right up to the fence to say hello.

After we said our goodbyes, we took a few more pictures on our way out after noticing the fence covered  in flowers.  They did not disappoint.

This picture series pretty much sums up Easton and Amelia’s relationship. I’m not sure I really need to say any more.

They love each other something fierce though.

And thank you sweet sister, for wrangling all the animals, my children included. All in all, I’d say it was a success!
