Welcome Amelia- A Birth Story
This is probably the most I’ve ever decorated our home for Christmas thanks to a Tour of Homes I participated in as part of the Officer Spouses Club here on Camp Lejeune. Our home was fully decked out in lights and tinsel by the first weekend in December! It was a lot of work, but after hosting and photographing the house, I can now relax and enjoy the holiday season. I’ll worry about Christmas shopping another day! 😂
A lot of our Christmas decor has been passed down to me from my family. This vintage train going around our tree was gifted to me in it’s original box and even has my mother’s maiden name written on it.
I thoroughly enjoyed decorating my new entryway table and found a perfect place for garland wrapped around the mirror above.
My dear friend Chelsey turned me on to the idea of tinsel a few years back and I have loved seeing it flood my social media feeds this year from fellow designers. The more tinsel the better!
This pillow is sentimental to me because it’s where my husband and I went for our honeymoon and several anniversary ski trips thereafter.Â
Last year, I placed our modern wooden Christmas tree in Easton’s room, but after finally purchasing him his own tree, decided to move it to our sunroom. Just another thing to add to the list of why this room is my favorite in the house!
Moving to the second floor – I strung real pine garland on the banister along with Christmas cards we’ve collected over the years. Mercury votives illuminate the steps as you make your way up.Â
My newest addition this year is this gorgeous flocked Christmas tree. I kept the ornaments simple by only adding candles, icicles, and some white butterflies. I just love how the branches hang down mimicking the weight of fallen snow atop them. One day, I’d love to place this in our master bedroom.Â
The pictures above the board and batten got changed out with winter themed photos. You can barely see it but the tiny picture to the right is Amelia kissing Winnie who’s wearing a party hat. Winnie’s birthday is Christmas day so we did a photoshoot on her first birthday! Also too small to see is Easton’s crying face when he saw Santa many years ago. 😂  Forever a classic!
Amelia’s tiny room couldn’t hold much Christmas decor, so I decided to use the blank space up above and fill it with some snowflakes made out of paper doilies. Super easy to make! I use mostly pink and white colored Christmas decorations to keep with the color scheme in her room.
Her tabletop tinsel tree is still going strong with the promise to upgrade her to a larger one once she has a bigger room.
Moving down the hall to Easton’s room, you are greeted with his new 6.5 ft Christmas tree. I’m in love with the tree topper I found for it! Something about boys’ rooms with pennants just have my heart…
His tree got the vintage bubble lights this year as well as some red garland. I do decorate with traditional colors in his room since it blends well with his existing decor and just screams “boy” to me.
The Santa on his bed was crocheted by my great grandmother!
Back downstairs, a photo of the main tree again showing my supervisor sleeping on the job…
Our dining room table was decorated with these adorable accordion paper trees. I’ve been collecting them for two years now, but this is the first year I’ve placed them here. I think they found their new home for the holidays!
Probably my favorite view in the house.
Our fireplace mantel is usually the first thing I decorate because I just love the look of garland on it. I also got these amazing remote controlled taper candles for the candlesticks as well as the ones inside the fireplace. They really add to the ambience of the room and are so easy to turn on.
Amelia was not pleased with how close I hung the stockings to one another. 😂 I’m slowly teaching her about design since she states she wants to be a designer when she grows up!
And finally, fresh greenery for that real Christmas tree smell I love so much, and one of my favorite designers’ books decorate our coffee table.
That’s the end of the Christmas home tour here for 2022! These two would like to escort you out…
Merry Christmas and happy decorating!

Love all of it! Reminds me of ChrisLovesJulia. My mom’s family used to have a vintage train around their tree growing up but no one can find it now. I so wish I had it. Can you decorate our house one day?!!!!
That’s the best compliment ever because I absolutely adore Chris Loves Julia!! And you know I’d love to help you decorate!
Beautiful work Sarah. I enjoyed your holiday home tour!
