Welcome Amelia- A Birth Story
I usually go all out for Christmas in our home and the kids’ bedrooms are a top favorite of mine to decorate. My dad used to put Christmas lights around the ceiling perimeter in our rooms and it clearly left a lasting impression. I had big plans to put another live tree in Easton’s room this year, but ended up forgoing one due to lack of space. (Easton now has a desk in his bedroom due to distance learning – thanks, Covid.) But, I dragged the desk out for these pictures and captured the room to show you what it looked like for an entire 30 minutes while I shot these photos. Boys these days…
His bed got a simple white pom pom garland that I intertwined with a strand of tiny battery operated Christmas lights, a hand crocheted Santa that my great grandmother made, circa 1980 , and the most important feature of all, Christmas sheets! Flannel Christmas sheets at that! I am extremely cold natured and would love a pair of flannel sheets on our bed, but Logan said he would die of a heat stroke! Boo.
The nightstand that is usually decorated in all things superhero was switched out for a faux mini Christmas tree and the sweetest nativity scene my mom found at Ross for only $15!
And let’s not forget the reindeer bust above his bed. I leaped with excitement when I found that little treasure at Home Goods a few years ago.
Can we just take a second to appreciate the craftsmanship of this Santa that my great grandmother crocheted? I just love a good antique, but this one holds such a special meaning.
The custom wall shelf that holds all of Easton’s superhero costumes got a few new things added to the mix. A small Christmas wreath and Santa hat on baby Yoda (Grogu?) added just the right amount of Christmas cheer to the decor.
Easton’s dresser lost his baseball trophies and some Pokemon cards, but I’m pretty confident that what I added is way better. A Christmas TV that spins around and plays Christmas tunes when you turn it on and a whimsical Santa, both of which I found at my beloved Home Goods.
My sister bought Easton a record player shortly after he was born and scored this “The Small One” record to play in it during the Christmas season. If you haven’t seen the movie, or listened to the record, I highly recommend it! It’s a classic in my opinion.
My dream is to one day move into a bigger house so I can put a tree in Easton’s bedroom once more. But for now, I’m pretty happy with how his room turned out. By just adding a few simple decorations, I was able to bring a little Christmas cheer to his corner of the house.
