Welcome Amelia- A Birth Story
I hadn’t planned on taking Easton to a theme park until he was a little older, but when I heard that military get in free at Seaworld once a year, I couldn’t turn down the free day of entertainment! We headed there on a Thursday (Logan took some time off work), which was awesome because it was not crowded at all, plus the weather was around 65 degrees and sunny. What more could you ask for than no lines and great weather? They had everything decorated for Christmas too, so it was very festive!
Our first stop was to see Shamu and his friends. They only do one show a day at 1600, and since we knew we wouldn’t be staying that long, we wanted to at least let Easton see a killer whale.
This one, (we’ll call Shamu) was pretending to be asleep and would blow water at everyone once in a while when they were close. Easton thought Shamu was pretty funny.
Then it was off to see the dolphins. The trainers were out feeding them and showing off some tricks. Easton got an up close view of them in action.
Next stop was the sea lion show. Easton was very clear about wanting his own seat instead of sitting on our laps. Such a big boy! Once he locked eyes on Seymour the sea lion, he didn’t take his eyes off him. And no, we did not sit in the splash zone. We’re saving that for when Aunt KiKi takes him again. 🙂
After some lunch and a quick stop to let mommy ride the roller coaster, it was off to the wild arctic exhibit. Easton loved getting to stand up on the viewing window and see the polar bears up close. He was certain it was another “doggy”.
While headed out of the park, we stopped by the Christmas exhibit where they had animals you could pet and reindeer and other fun things to look at.
Surprisingly, Easton’s favorite thing all day was Franklin the turtle. I have no idea who Franklin is, but Easton loved him. I was afraid it was going to be another Santa Claus disaster, but Easton thought he was hilarious. Maybe we’ll go sit on Franklin’s lap next year instead of Santa’s.
All in all I’d say it was a pretty successful trip to Easton’s first theme park. Thanks Seaworld for a fun day- we’ll be back again next year, I’m sure!
