Welcome Amelia- A Birth Story
This year, our 4th of July was spent in Jacksonville, Florida at my mom’s house (sometimes moving frequently does have it’s perks). She lives on a lake and the kids have really enjoyed it this year. So first thing that morning, we headed down to the lake to snap a few photos before the parade.
My mom’s neighborhood does a great 4th of July parade every year and I was so excited that the kids were finally getting to participate in it. Last year in Quantico, I put together a 4th of July parade in our neighborhood on base. What can I say, parades are near and dear to my heart!
And so, with the blazing Florida sun upon us, we headed down to the start of the parade!
I decorated Easton’s tractor again this year (all from decorations leftover from last year) and the kids had a blast driving it.
Semper stole the show though, riding in the back!
Despite the heat, the parade always has a huge turnout!
After the parade, we headed back to Grandma’s house to cool off with bomb pops and a dip in the lake.
After nap time (for everyone), we spent the afternoon playing in the lake and hanging out by the rope swing. Easton couldn’t contain his excitement for the fireworks and kept asking when it would be time for them. We let him light some sparklers as the sun set and I was thrilled that he wasn’t afraid of them this year!
The fireworks were a bit of a different story but we made big strides this year!
Amelia got to stay up past her bedtime and thoroughly enjoyed getting to hold a sparkler with Daddy.
We ended the night with a few fireworks off the floating dock and put two tired little kids to bed.
I hope you all had a wonderful and blessed 4th! We are fortunate to have spent this day together in the land of the free!
And I’m proud to be an American
Where at least I know I’m free
And I won’t forget the men who died
Who gave that right to me
And I gladly stand up
Next to you and defend her still today
Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land
God bless the USA

Looks like a fun day! Amelia’s 4th outfit is sooo cute!
Thanks, Susie! I saw it on Instagram last year and bought it after the 4th when it went on sale!
